Democracy Club

Hello,

Happy Autumn!

In this newsletter we have a new crowdsourcing request of you! We’re also discussing the future of the organisation, advertising some jobs and thinking about how digital helps elections become more accessible to all.

We’ve got six-and-a-bit months before around 30m people can vote in local elections across England. Let’s get to work!

Thanks for all your help,

Joe, Sym and Chris

🔎 Help find info on political parties' local branches!

Regular volunteer? First-timer? Either way, get stuck in to help find links to political parties' local branches. This is a vital step towards getting better information on local candidates and their policies. Help us complete this spreadsheet!

💡 What’s the goal of Democracy Club?

We are working with our board of directors to nail down our long-term purpose. If you have opinions, get in touch! In the short-term, we finalised our goals for the year to May 2019: here’s the cut-out-and-keep version.

🚀 We’re hiring!

We are currently fundraising to expand the core team and deliver better services to save democracy. We're looking for help with admin, the next elections, and we plan future roles for developers, designers, organisers, fundraisers and others. Details here. Please forward this email to anyone who might be keen!

👐 Let’s make elections accessible for everyone.

The Government published this excellent review of accessibility of elections. And here’s the thing: everyone benefits from more accessible elections! We’re talking to the Accessibility Working Group to see how we might contribute.

📖 Suggest a book for our next bookclub!

Emma Crewe’s Commons and Lords was great. What should we read next? Ideas and discussions welcome in the #bookclub channel in our Slack.
