Democracy Club

Hello,

We’re having a party or three — please join us!

On Tues 10 April, you'll find us in London, Birmingham and Manchester. As with all great parties, you’ll need a laptop to help turn PDFs into useful information for voters!

Please do sign up using the links below, or just turn up.

Not near those cities? Take part online! Watch out for emails from us — or join our Slack.

Lots of other news below!

Joe

💻 You can add candidates right now

Even if we don’t have the official documents yet, it’s often obvious who is standing. Leaflets through the door, lists on local party websites or tweets with pictures of people out canvassing — these are all good sources for updating the database.

🔍 Five councils are piloting voter ID requirements

It’s controversial. Check out Rose’s comprehensive blog on precisely what is happening, and what counts as ‘ID’. We’ll be watching these pilots closely!

🤖 Anyone into machine learning?

We’d like to build some robots. We’ve got good training data. Now we need you to put it all together. More details here.

📝 Help us collect hustings and manifestos

One of the best ways to learn about candidates is to go to hustings events (debates). Help us track hustings here. We’re also collecting manifestos here. We’ll display this information to voters via Who Can I Vote For?.

😠 “Not good enough.”

“Less than two months away from election and still no news on candidates. Not good enough.” The verdict of one user of Who Can I Vote For? who was hoping to get some candidate information. Yikes! We’ve summarised some other recent feedback in this blogpost.
