Democracy Club

Hello,

Happy December! 🎄 Do you wish it could be polling day, every da-a-ay? Sorry.

In this month’s Democracy Club newsletter, we’re welcoming our new directors, doing a half-year review and we have plenty of requests of you.

As always, you can keep up with us on twitter, facebook and our blog. If you fancy making a little Christmas gift to help save democracy, you can find our donate page here. :)

Best wishes,

Joe

👋 Please welcome our new board of directors!

We took our sweet time, but we are delighted to announce a brilliant group who are going to help us do more and better over the next few years.

📈 We’re halfway through the democracy year; how are we doing?

Last summer we came up with a range of goals for the ‘democracy year’ of May 2017 to May 2018. Six months on, we have reviewed our progress. We’d love your comments on this Google document.

✍️ Help out with voter registration in London.

We’re involved in a pilot approach to encourage voter registration by going door-to-door in Barnet, Bromley, Harrow and Kingston. If you might be up for some door-knocking, then reply to this email to learn more!

📸 Do you use Snapchat?

They’ve asked us for ideas for fun things they could do to encourage their (typically younger) users to get involved in democracy. Hit reply with any ideas!

🇺🇸 We made some American friends!

In October, we were in New York meeting American civic tech folks. We blogged about who we met and what we learnt about finding US polling stations.

🗳 We’re listing by-elections on Who Can I Vote For?

We’ve made it easier to check out upcoming by-elections on the homepage of ‘Who Can I Vote For?’. Please keep an eye out for any elections we might have missed: you can add them to Every Election, or let us know by email.
