Hello,
Happy summer!
This month: we started a book club; we're on the look out for people to help in the event of a general election; we're setting out our aims for the year; and more!
Stay hydrated, and see you in September.

🚨 Want to help out if there’s a snap election?
The chances of a snap general election have waxed and waned over the last month. We’re trying to Be Prepared, so we’re gathering a list of people who might like to work on Democracy Club projects. Please forward this blogpost to any likely candidates!
🌅 Our draft goals for the next year.
As well as maintaining a state of readiness for a snap election, we’ve outlined what else we plan to achieve over the next election year (May ‘18 to May ‘19). Questions and comments are very welcome.
📚 Join our virtual book club!
Each week seems to bring a new must-read tome on democracy and its inevitable demise. Join the new #bookclub channel in our Slack to discuss them! We've already picked this month's book!
🗺 Identifying new political areas is too hard.
Political areas (like council wards) are given official identifiers. We need these to run our data services. But new areas sometimes aren't given identifiers quickly enough. We blogged about this and why it's a problem.
🗳 By-elections don’t stop for summer.
As always, there is crowdsourcing to do! You can log into candidates.democracyclub.org.uk if you have ten minutes free, or if your children need something to do over the summer. We’re also now collecting by-election results!
